Beacon Health System is currently treating a patient at Elkhart General Hospital who tested positive for COVID-19. The patient is being treated in isolation. The Beacon clinical team is following proper protocols to ensure patient and caregiver safety and is in continuous contact with local and state health departments. We continue to take every necessary precaution to keep our patients, staff and community safe.

Other individuals have also tested positive for COVID-19 through Beacon’s in-car screening process and are currently doing well recovering at home. These individuals called Beacon’s AnswerLine (855-523-2225) after experiencing symptoms and were tested after meeting current COVID-19 testing guidelines.

Beacon clinicians and support staff have worked countless hours to prepare and care for COVID-19 patients. In response to this rapidly evolving situation, we continue to implement changes to prevent spread of the virus. Some of these changes include: limiting points of entry to our hospitals, temperature checks for everyone entering our hospitals, and visitor restrictions.

Beacon is operating a 24/7 Incident Command structure, where key personnel continuously monitor patient status, ensure that front-line care staff are properly protected, and are prepared for additional cases should the need arise.
