Dr. Michelle Bache, Vice President of Medical Affairs, Elkhart General Hospital, explains what it means for the FDA to give “emergency use authorization” for the Pfizer COVID vaccine. Dr. Bache also talks about the differences between this vaccine and other vaccines and addresses the safety and efficacy of this vaccine. “It is hugely effective, much more than we could even hope for,” she said. “We were hoping for 50 percent efficacy and the studies show Pfizer vaccine is 95 percent effective.” She adds, “This is really the weapon that we needed to fight this pandemic and bring this to an end to get us back to our normal lives.”
