Becky Wachs, Certified Child Life Specialist at Beacon Children’s Hospital, offers advice — as well as hands-on demonstrations — for parents of children who are afraid of people wearing masks. With her daughters, Isla, 9, and Penny, 7, Becky shows parents how they can normalize mask wearing with a facial expression guessing game. In another demonstration, she uses a water bottle and dolls wearing masks to demonstrate to kids the importance of wearing one if you sneeze in someone’s direction. And Becky says parents should tell their kids that “by wearing masks, we’re all being superheroes and keeping each other safe.”
